We publish working-code playbooks for AI builders.

001: Why we exist

The AI shelf is drowning in books that were never tested.

Generic, hedged, written to fill pages and rank on a keyword. A reader pays $2.99, hits chapter three, and the code doesn’t run.

We’re a small team of builders, writers, and AI obsessives who got tired of it. Every title we publish ships real, working code you can run the same weekend you buy it. We organize the catalog into series so each one goes deep on a tool that matters right now, and we keep books current as the tools move.

Small, fast, and unwilling to lower the bar.

002: Who’s behind it
John Cook

Hey there, thanks for being here. My name is John Cook. I’m a technologist and writer with a BS in Computer Science and live in Northern California with my wife and children.

youcanbuildthings.com exists with one goal: to help you stop watching from the sidelines and start using AI, automation, and modern tools to get an edge, be more productive and build income systems.

Every title my team publishes is designed to help you move from reader to builder. Our approach is turning complex tools into step-by-step weekend projects with actual dollar signs attached. If you’re a reader with feedback, or an independent author who wants to share your knowledge with a hyper-engaged audience, email me: john.r.cook@icloud.com. I’m a real person, and you’ll get a human response. Promise.

Now go build something this weekend!

003: How we make books
01Build it firstEvery book begins with code that actually runs in production. No theory written from the outside.
02Hold the standardIf a chapter doesn’t teach something you can ship today, it gets cut. Measured against a published bar.
03Keep it currentTools change weekly. We ship second editions instead of letting a title rot on the shelf.
